After Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook was sharing the personal data of its users, a new scandal appears on the map. Now Grindr, the dating application known as the Tinder for the gay community, is in the eye of the hurricane for the same reasons.

According to several US media, including Buzz Feed, the app, which connects 3.6 million people a day, has been sharing the personal information of its users, including the name, the city where they live and their status as HIV (whether they are positive or not).
A few weeks ago, Grindr added the possibility that its users activated an option to receive notifications to remind them when a new HIV test should be performed, in addition, each user can choose to put this information in their profile publicly.

The problem started when all this information, including the location, name, email and even smartphone model, began to be shared with the Apptimize and Localytics companies, who say they help optimize applications by receiving user information.

Obviously, in addition to being an alarming news because it supposes a total invasion of privacy, one would have to ask oneself for what purpose they would be using that information … Since with all this data, it would be extremely easy to identify specific users, translating into a potential risk when dealing with of a group of people prone to attacks and hate crimes in various regions of the world.
